What Does Homeowners Insurance Cover?

Homeowners insurance covers so much more than just your house. Homeowners also covers other structures on your property (barn, shed, fence), your belongings (furniture, clothes, electronics), lawsuits, and even temporary living expenses during home repairs. And yes, these coverages come standard at no extra cost. Just get a homeowners insurance quote, and you can see all your coverages.

STANDARD HOMEOWNERS INSURANCE COVERAGES

These are the basic homeowners insurance coverages and come standard in your homeowners policy.

Dwelling coverage

Covers damage to your house and attachments

Dwelling coverage pays for damage to your house and anything permanently attached to it, including your garage, roof, chimneys, attached deck, countertops, cabinets, flooring, vanities, etc.

Example: A pipe in your kitchen bursts and water damages your walls, cabinets, countertops, appliances, and hardwood floors. This then pays to repair or replace what’s damaged and water removal.

Other structures

Covers structures not permanently attached to your house

Other structures coverage includes unattached garages, gazebos, decks, patios, sheds, pergolas, fences, driveways, etc.

Example: During a windstorm, a tree falls and damages your shed, fence, deck, and pool. This then pays to repair or replace the structures that were damaged and tree removal.

Personal possessions

Covers your belongings if they’re stolen or damaged

Personal possessions covers just about all of your stuff if it’s damaged or stolen. This can include electronics, furniture, clothes, tools/power equipment, and more. Your items are even covered if they’re not stored in your home (sheds, garages, your car, storage facilities, etc.).

Example: Someone breaks into your car and steals your phone, clothes, and camping equipment. You’ll then get payment for those items, but there may be limitations on some of them.

Jewelry, art, memorabilia, computers, and other expensive items: Certain limits may apply to your more expensive items, but don’t worry, you can get additional coverage for jewelry and other expensive items. Just complete your quote, and we’ll guide you through adding the right coverage as you’re buying. Plus, we have licensed home insurance agents available to help.

Loss of use

Covers temporary living expenses

You’ll never be left homeless. If your home is damaged from a covered loss (meaning something insurance pays for) and you can’t stay there, loss of use covers hotel, rent, and food expenses above what you’d normally pay.

Example: There’s a fire in your home, and you can’t stay there for two weeks. If you spend $1,000 eating out, loss of use will cover that food bill beyond what you normally spend, and your rent/hotel expenses. Make sure you keep your receipts.

Personal liability

Covers lawsuits against you

If someone sues you or a family member you live with (for injuries or damage to their property), personal liability will pay for your lawyer, court fees, and certain damages you have to pay, subject to your policy.

Example: A delivery person slips and falls at your house and sues you for their medical bills, lost wages, and damaged merchandise. Or, your child spray paints your neighbor’s garage, and they sue you. Personal liability covers all of those instances.

Medical payments

Covers injuries on your property

Medical payments coverage pays for medical bills if someone else is hurt at your home or on your property.

Example: Your child’s friend breaks her arm at your house, and their parents ask you to pay the medical bill. Medical payments then covers the medical costs.

OPTIONAL HOMEOWNERS INSURANCE COVERAGES

You can add any of these coverages to customize your policy based on your needs.

Water back-up

Covers water damage from backed-up sump pumps and sewer systems

Some homes have sump pumps in their basements/crawl spaces, which are designed to pump water out from underneath and around your foundation. Sometimes sump pumps or plumbing/sewer systems get backed up. Water can then flood into your house, causing an expensive mess. Water back-up coverage will then pay for damage to your belongings and water removal.

Example: Your sump pump breaks down, and water/sewage floods back into your basement, damaging your carpet, furniture, billiards table, washer, and dryer. Water back-up then pays for the sewage removal and that damage to your property.

Personal injury

Covers uncommon but expensive lawsuits and situations

Personal injury covers your legal fees and additional damages from:

  • Slander or libel lawsuits (something you say/write that damages a person’s reputation or business)
  • Lawsuits against you such as wrongful entry or malicious prosecution
  • Wrongful eviction
  • False arrest, detention, or imprisonment

Example: Your teenage child damages their teacher’s reputation by posting something online. So, the teacher decides to sue you. Personal injury will then cover your lawyer, court fees, and any damages you have to pay, subject to your policy.

PERILS: WHAT YOU’RE PROTECTED AGAINST

Perils are really just things that can damage your house, other structures on your property, and your belongings.

What’s typically covered

  • Lightning
  • Fire and smoke
  • Tornadoes
  • Power surges
  • Damage from the weight of ice, snow, or sleet
  • Volcanic eruption
  • Windstorms and hail
  • Theft
  • Explosions (e.g., aerosol can or gas grill)
  • Vandalism and riots
  • Car/aircraft crashing into your home
  • Falling trees or other objects
  • Water damage (from leaking roofs, bursting pipes, or broken appliances, but not floods)

What’s not covered

If you quote through Insurance Network, we’ll help you add coverage for any of these. But, you may need a separate policy.

  • Floods (if you live in a flood plane, your lender will likely require this insurance)
  • Earthquakes, landslides, and mudslides
  • Sinkholes

GENERAL WEAR AND TEAR IS NOT COVERED BY ANY POLICY

If your roof is old and simply needs to be replaced, no insurance policy will cover it. But, if that same old roof were damaged in a storm and heavy winds ripped off shingles, then it’d be covered.

Expected events = not covered

Unexpected events = covered

Auto insurance coverages we offer

Accidents, glass damage, lawsuits, hail, and more—we have affordable coverage options to protect against just about anything. Get a free car insurance quote and you can customize your coverages online.

Liability

Pays for property damages and injuries you cause to others while driving. You’re also covered for court/attorney costs.

Example: You rear-end another car, causing damage to the vehicle and injuring the driver. We’ll pay for, up to your policy’s limits, the other driver’s car repairs and injuries, plus costs from any potential lawsuit. There’s no deductible for liability.

Comprehensive and collision

Comprehensive pays to repair or replace your car if it’s damaged from an incident out of your control: theft, vandalism, hitting an animal, fire, acts of nature, and glass damage. Collision covers damages to your vehicle if you’re in an accident, regardless of fault.

Example (Comprehensive): Your car is totaled during a major hailstorm while parked outside. If you have comprehensive, we’ll pay you the value of your car, minus your deductible.
Example (Collision): You back out of your garage, hit your basketball hoop, and cause $2,000 worth of damage to your vehicle. With collision, we’ll pay to repair your vehicle, minus your deductible.

Uninsured/underinsured motorist

If you’re hit by a driver with no insurance or not enough insurance, uninsured/underinsured motorist (UI/UIM) bodily injury and property damage coverage can pay for your injuries and damages, up to your policy’s limits.

Example: An uninsured driver runs a red light and hits your vehicle. If they can’t cover the damages to your vehicle, your uninsured motorist property damage can pay for the repairs.

Medical payments

Pays for medical costs if you, your family members, or your passengers are injured in an accident, regardless of fault.

Example: Your newly-licensed 16-year-old neighbor drives your child to school, and they’re in an accident. Your child is injured and has a $1,000 medical bill. Medical payments will cover the bill, up to the limits of your policy. No deductible applies.

Rental car reimbursement

Pays for your rental car fees while your vehicle is being repaired from a covered loss.

Example: Your car is severely damaged in an accident, and repairs will take a week, so you need a rental. If you have rental car reimbursement, we’ll pay for your rental car fees (up to your policy’s limits).

Loan/lease payoff

Also known as “gap insurance.” If your car is totaled, we’ll help pay off the balance of your loan (up to 125% of your vehicle’s current value).

Example: You finance $30,000 for a new car. The moment you drive off the lot, your new ride could only be worth $25,000. If your car is totaled, you’re still responsible for the $30,000 on the loan. Loan/lease payoff makes up the difference.

ATV or UTV insurance

Four-wheelers and side-by-sides can be serious fun, so make sure you and your all-terrain vehicle (ATV) or utility vehicle (UTV) are protected whether you’re a full-time rancher or part-time adventure seeker. With Progressive ATV and UTV insurance, you can quote and customize your policy online to cover different types of risks.

Is ATV insurance required?

Not all states mandate insurance on your ATV or UTV, but places where you ride it might—like private property areas and state or public parks. Also, if you’re financing your vehicle, some lenders will require comprehensive and collision coverage.

Is your ATV covered by your home insurance policy?

Home insurance typically covers your ATV for scenarios on your property only. That means you’ll need a separate ATV/UTV policy for accidents that occur away from home. Plus, even if your home and ATV insurance are with the same company, it’s usually more cost effective to file an insurance claim under your ATV policy rather than your home policy.

What does ATV/UTV insurance cost?

Your price will depend on many factors, including your ATV’s make, model and location. Your age and driving history will also help determine your rate.

Does Progressive insure all ATV, UTV, and side-by-side brands?

We insure nearly all popular makes and models, including but not limited to Polaris, Can-Am (BRP), Yamaha and Kawasaki.

ATV insurance discounts

Here are some of the many discounts you could qualify for* when you buy ATV or UTV insurance policy from Progressive:

  • Safety course: If you’ve completed an approved ATV, motorcycle or snowmobile safety course within the past three years, you’ll receive a discount on your ATV policy.
  • Multi-policy: Already have another policy with Progressive, such as auto, home, renters, RV or boat? We’ll add a discount for bundling to your ATV policy. See more on the benefits of bundling insurance.
  • Pay in full: Pay your ATV policy in full, up front, and we’ll add another discount.
  • Responsible driver: Safe drivers deserve to be rewarded, and you’ll get a discount if you’ve had no accidents or motor vehicle violations in the last three years.
  • Advance quote†: Get an ATV insurance quote at least one day prior to starting your policy and earn a discount on your policy just for shopping in advance.

What does ATV/UTV insurance cover?

ATV/UTV coverages will protect your vehicle and/or your finances if you’re sued because you’re liable in an accident. Progressive offers more than just the basic coverages so you can ride with maximum peace of mind.

Standard coverages

Bodily injury and property damage liability

Pays for injuries you cause to someone else or damages to their vehicle or property while you’re riding your ATV or UTV. Legal costs are also covered if you’re sued.

Liability coverage isn’t required by law in every state, but injuries often cost ATV owners thousands. Bodily injury coverage, especially, can help you avoid a potential financial burden as the average injury claim is over $10,000.

Uninsured/underinsured motorist bodily injury and property damage

Covers you and your passengers if you’re on your quad or side-by-side and are injured by another driver or rider with no insurance or not enough insurance. You’re also covered if an uninsured/underinsured driver damages your vehicle.

Comprehensive and collision

A chief concern among ATV owners is protecting their vehicle against theft. Comprehensive coverage pays to repair or replace your ATV (or UTV) if it is stolen, vandalized, or damaged due to fire, hitting an animal or an act of nature. Collision covers damage to your vehicle if you’re in an accident with another vehicle or object.

Comprehensive and collision aren’t mandatory unless you’re financing your ATV but are highly recommended if you wish to safeguard your vehicle.

Medical payments

If you’re in an accident with your ATV or UTV, even if you simply fall off your vehicle, medical payments can pay for medical and funeral expenses (up to your policy’s limits) for you and your passengers.

In some states, personal injury protection is offered for medical payments and protects you similarly.

Accessories and custom parts/equipment

With Progressive, ATV insurance coverage automatically includes $3,000 in coverage for upgrades you’ve made to your vehicle. Need more than $3,000? You can purchase up to $30,000 in additional coverages and benefits coverage.

Extra coverages

Total loss coverage for new ATVs

If your ATV or UTV is no more than one model year old on a new policy or two model years old on a renewal policy with full physical damage coverage, we’ll pay you the full MSRP if your vehicle is totaled. A deductible applies.

Disappearing deductibles

For every claim-free policy period you have with your Progressive ATV policy, we’ll lower your deductible by 25%…all the way down to $0.

OEM parts

If your ATV or UTV contains original manufacturer equipment parts in your vehicle, we’ll always use the same when it comes to repairs.

Carried contents

Your ATV or UTV is often your work horse, as you use it to hunt or plow. Carried contents coverage protects your camping equipment, hunting gear, and any personal property that could fall out of your vehicle.

Roadside assistance and trip interruption

We’ll tow your ATV to the nearest repair shop if your vehicle is disabled within 100 feet of the road. Once you have roadside coverage, you’ll be able to add trip interruption, which pays for food and/or lodging expenses (up to $500) if you’re away from home.

Boat Insurance Coverages

Coverage simply isn’t the same everywhere. We offer many of the same standard coverages other insurers do. But we do more than meet checklist requirements. We offer more unique boat insurance coverage options—many of which don’t cost extra.

STANDARD BOAT INSURANCE COVERAGES AND BENEFITS

Full replacement cost

If you carry comprehensive and collision coverage, we’ll pay what it costs to return your watercraft to its pre-accident condition or better.

Example: You hit a submerged object, damaging your 10-year old motor. It may only be valued at $3,000 but costs $8,000 to replace. If we can’t repair it, we’ll replace it. This saves you $5,000 in depreciation.

Bodily injury & property damage liability (BI/PD)

Bodily injury liability covers you if you’re in a boat accident and liable for injuring others. Liability boat insurance also pays to repair or replace any watercraft, object or other property you damage while boating, plus legal expenses if you’re sued.

Example: You crash your boat into the pier when trying to dock it, causing thousands in damage and injuring people on the pier. Liability will pay for the pier damage and people’s injuries up to your policy’s limits.

Fuel spill

Progressive pays for fuel spills, no matter how the spill happened: sunken boat, leaking tank, or a mishap at the fueling station.

Example: Your boat sinks in a nature reserve and the government issues you a fine-claiming your fuel spill threatens marine life and makes the water unsanitary. Progressive will pay the fine up to your policy’s limits.

Wreckage removal

If your boat sinks, we’ll cover the cost of removing your boat from the water (if removal is legally required).

Example: In a heavy storm, your docked boat sinks, so the marina mandates that you remove it or pay a fine. We’ll take care of removing your boat, so you can avoid any fees.

Roadside assistance

This coverage comes standard if you have trailer coverage on your policy—we’ll pay to tow your disabled vehicle to the nearest repair shop. See how boat roadside assistance works.

Example: You’re hauling your boat to the lake, and your vehicle breaks down or runs out of gas. We’ll pay to tow your vehicle and watercraft to the nearest repair shop.

Water sports coverage

Water sports coverage pays for any injuries or damages you caused from tubing, knee boarding, wake boarding, wake surfing or other similar activities. Parasailing, kite boarding or other activities in which someone is pulled through the air won’t be covered.

Example: Your child’s friend is injured while tubing on your boat.Water sports coverage will kick in and pay for their medical bills up to your policy’s limits.

OPTIONAL BOAT INSURANCE COVERAGES

Total loss replacement

Available for purchase if you’re the original owner of your boat and it’s no more than one model year old. If your boat is totaled within 5 model years, we’ll buy you a new one or give you the amount that you originally paid for your totaled boat—your choice. If you’re outside the 5 model-year window, we will still give you the original purchase price of your boat.

Example: You bought a new boat 3 years ago for $15,000, but it’s now only worth $10,000. If you have a total loss, it’s going to cost you at least $15,000 to buy a brand new one. So, we’ll spend the $15,000 and save you $5,000 in depreciation.

Sign & Glide® on-water towing

If your boat is disabled or breaks down on the water, boat towing insurance pays for on-water towing, jump starts, soft un-groundings, and fuel delivery if your boat is disabled on the water. Just call our dispatch center, and we’ll arrange for and pay the tow operator directly. You pay nothing out of pocket for boat towing service.

Fishing equipment or carry-on items

You can get full replacement cost up to $10,000 for fishing equipment and up to $5,000 for personal property such as scuba gear, phones or other items that you carry on board and are lost or stolen.

Example:: $5,000 worth of fishing equipment is stolen from your boat, but it’s a few years old and only worth $2,000. Progressive pays what it costs to buy brand new equipment (of similar models). That could be $5,000 or even more.

Propulsion Plus® mechanical breakdown coverage

We’ll pay to repair or replace the lower unit of an outboard motor, or upper & lower units of an inboard/outboard motor if you have a mechanical breakdown. And yes, we’ll still cover it if it’s caused by general wear and tear. Starts at $38/year. Propulsion Plus does not apply to jet drives or inboard motors.

Example: Your 10-year old lower unit simply runs its course and dies on you. Typically, insurance wouldn’t pay for that because wear and tear is not covered. This coverage is different. Add Propulsion Plus, and, if it can’t repaired, we’ll replace it with a brand new one.

Comprehensive & collision

These are two separate coverages. Comprehensive covers events out of your control, such as theft, vandalism, sunken boat, fires, heavy winds, hurricanes, and other weather-related damage. Collision covers damage from boating accidents, such as hitting a submerged object, dock, another boat, and even covers any injuries to pets on your boat, etc.

Example (Comprehensive): Heavy winds rip the sails off your boat, causing thousands in damage. If you have comprehensive, we’ll pay for the damage, minus your deductible. Example (Collision): You hit a submerged object and damage your boat and your dog is hurt in the accident. We’ll pay for damage to your boat, minus your deductible, and injuries to your dog (up to $1,000).

Uninsured/underinsured boater (UB/UIB)

If you’re hit by a boater with no insurance or not enough insurance, UB/UIB will pay for your injuries and damages up to your policy’s limits.

Example: Another boater without insurance hits you and injures everyone on board. The boater is uninsured and can’t afford to pay out-of-pocket for the injuries caused. UB/UIB will pay for what the boater is liable for, up to the limits you select.

Medical payments

You can pick a range of coverage limits to pay for you and your passengers’ medical bills if you’re in an accident or someone is hurt on your boat.

Example: You’re fishing and accidentally cut your hand with a sharp hook. You need stitches and have an expensive medical bill. Your health insurance company says they won’t pay the bill because you haven’t reached your deductible. So you can instead use your medical payments coverage, which has no deductible.

Trailer trip interruption

Pays your expenses if you break down at least 100 miles from home. We’ll reimburse you up to $500 to cover food, hotel, and other transportation costs. Costs only $10/year.

Why you need specialized boat insurance coverage

Boat insurance is not required in all states. However, if you finance your boat or dock it at a marina, you may be required to have a specialty boat policy.

Off the water, you may be able to insure your boat on your homeowners policy. But homeowners policies typically cover small low-powered watercraft and offer few optional coverages. That’s why so many boaters choose Progressive specialized policies. With us, you’ll get all the coverages listed above (or the option to select them).

Motorcycle Insurance Coverages

Insurance Network is the #1 motorcycle insurer in the country, and the proof is in the protection. We offer a wide range of coverages to give you peace of mind and protect your bike. Many of these coverage types are automatically included at no extra cost.

Compare motorcycle insurance coverage options below and see why 1 in 3 insured riders choose Insurance Network. Then get a quote with coverages and limits customized to your needs.

COVERAGES THAT ARE AUTOMATICALLY INCLUDED

The following coverages come standard with your Insurance Network motorcycle policy:

Full replacement cost and no depreciation

We’ll always return your bike to pre-accident condition or better.

Example: Suppose the bike you bought for $15,000 is now only worth $10,000. If it’s totaled, and the latest model costs $15,000 or more, we’ll give you $15,000+. If your bike is no longer eligible for total loss coverage at renewal, your policy still covers the actual cash value for what it’s currently worth.

Accessories and custom parts/equipment (CPE)

You’ll choose the amount you need to re-customize or restore your bike. We’ll automatically include $3,000 of coverage with comprehensive and collision to pay for upgrades, customizations, equipment, and your accessories. If that’s not enough, you can purchase up to $30,000 in coverage. Keep in mind, as you make upgrades to your bike, you may want to increase your accessory coverage limit so you’ll be adequately protected.

Example: A few months after you bought your bike, you added a custom, diamond-stitch seat to your ride. If it’s damaged in an accident, your accessory coverage will replace the seat. A deductible applies.

OEM parts

If you have Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) parts in your bike, we’ll always use OEM parts in repairs. Or if you have custom parts, we’ll use custom parts in repairs. With Insurance Network, you’re always covered with the same or better parts. This coverage is included if you add comprehensive and collision.

Example: Your headlight is damaged in an accident. We’ll replace it with one from the original manufacturer. At Insurance Network, we know you’re proud of your bike’s brand and you don’t want to settle for aftermarket parts.

STANDARD MOTORCYCLE COVERAGES

These are the basic protections when it comes to motorcycle insurance:

Bodily injury and property damage liability (BI/PD)

Pays for damages to other vehicles and injuries to others if you’re liable in a motorcycle accident, as well as legal expenses if you’re sued. Bodily injury coverage is mandatory in almost every state.

Example: You’re at fault in an accident with another motorcycle, injuring the rider and damaging their bike. We’ll pay for both the rider’s injuries and damages to their bike up to your policy’s limits.

Uninsured/underinsured motorist (UM/UIM)

What happens if someone who doesn’t have insurance hits you? Sometimes, they’ll pay out of pocket for damages. But if they can’t, UM/UIM pays for your medical bills, damages to your motorcycle, and lost wages if you can’t work.

Example: You’re blindsided by a driver with no insurance and no way to pay for the injuries they’ve caused. UM/UIM coverage will pay for your injuries up to the limits of your policy.

Comprehensive and collision

Comprehensive pays to repair or replace your motorcycle if it’s stolen, vandalized or damaged in a fire or collision with an animal. Collision coverage pays to repair or replace your bike if its damaged in an accident. You’ll be able to choose your deductible amount for comprehensive and collision.

Example: You’re in a collision with a deer and your motorcycle is totaled. Comprehensive coverage will pay for the actual cash value of the bike, minus any deductible.

Medical payments

Pays for you and your passengers’ medical bills if you’re in an accident, regardless of fault.

Example: You fall off your bike and break your arm. Unfortunately, you don’t have health insurance but your policy’s medical payments will cover your medical bill up to specified limits.

EXTRA COVERAGES

Best explained as optional motorcycle insurance coverages but popular with our customers

Total loss coverage for a new motorcycle

Available if your bike is no more than one model year old on a new policy, and two model years old during a renewal of a total loss coverage policy. If your bike is totaled, we’ll give you the full manufacturer’s suggested retail price for a brand new bike, minus the deductible on your policy.

Let’s say that you bought a motorcycle for $15,000, and it’s now only worth $10,000. If it’s totaled, and the latest model costs over $15,000, we’ll give you that amount. If your motorcycle is no longer eligible for total loss coverage at renewal, your policy will still cover the actual cash value of your bike.

Roadside assistance and trip interruption

If your bike is disabled anywhere in the United States or Canada, our roadside assistance program will tow your bike to the nearest repair shop for free. You can also add trip interruption to pay for food, hotel or transportation up to $500 if you’re away from home.

Carried Contents®

Covers personal belongings that you carry on your bike if they’re damaged, stolen, or lost, including phones, camping equipment and hunting gear.

Disappearing deductible

We’ll take 25% off your deductible for every claim-free motorcycle policy you have…all the way down to $0. If you have a claim, the deductible returns to its original amount at the next renewal.†

Enhanced injury protection

If you’re injured and can’t work, we’ll pay you up to $250 every week for two straight years. We’ll also add death benefits to this, so if you’re in a fatal accident, we’ll pay your beneficiaries $25,000.

Looking for full coverage motorcycle insurance?

The term “full coverage” means something different to everyone, but often refers to carrying basic liability as well as physical damage coverage (comprehensive and collision). The amount of coverage that’s right for you will depend on many factors, including the value of your bike and whether it is being financed. If you’re unsure about what you need, call us and speak with a licensed representative about recommended motorcycle insurance coverages.

What it costs

In 2017, the national average cost of a new 12-month business insurance policy through the Insurance Network Business Program ranged from $50 a month for professional liability to $192 a month for workers’ compensation.

Your rate is based on the specific types of coverage you need, and that depends on the type of work you do and the risk involved. Each business is different, and so is their exposure to risk. Discover the differences in cost among business insurance productsand what you can do to secure adequate coverage at a low cost.

Common questions

What does business insurance cover?

Business insurance isn’t a specific coverage. It’s a term used to describe one or more individual coverages that protect a small business. The range of protection depends on the specific coverages a business carries. For example, “business insurance” can refer to a single coverage, such as general liability, but it can also include many more.

Which coverages do I need?

Each business has unique needs, but nearly all should consider general liability. It’s the most common coverage, protecting businesses against a wide variety of situations involving third-party injuries or property damage (e.g. slip and falls, broken windows).

If you or your employees drive for work-related tasks, you’ll probably need commercial auto insurance. Most states require that you carry workers’ compensation if you have employees.

Why do I need business insurance?

You need it to protect against severe financial loss. Without it, your business could be crippled by a single incident. For example, a customer was injured and you’re legally responsible. Without insurance, the medical bills and legal fees could become impossible to afford. Don’t let this happen to you.

Do I need business insurance if I’m a sole proprietor?

Yes. As a matter of fact, sole proprietors are personally responsible for their business’s debts. This means their personal assets, such as bank accounts or property, might be targeted to satisfy an outstanding business debt. Accidents are unavoidable, but the financial impact they can cause is something you should plan for no matter how small your business is.
